Are my photos saved on the server?
No. IDefender technology is built on client-side JavaScript execution. All modifications happen directly in your device's RAM; your original files never leave your browser. We don't have a backend that stores your data.
How does IDefender protect against AI training?
IDefender uses adversarial perturbations that act as "digital noise." While humans see a normal photo, AI models (like those used for facial recognition or LLM training) see a corrupted or different set of features, making your data useless for their training sets.
What is Face Guard mode?
It is an adaptation of the Fawkes method, which introduces micro-perturbations into key facial landmarks. These changes are designed to mislead AI recognition systems, preventing them from creating a reliable biometric profile of you.
Is it free to use?
Yes, IDefender is a free privacy tool. We believe that digital self-defense should be accessible to everyone, especially vulnerable groups who are often targeted online.
Does it work on mobile devices?
Absolutely. IDefender is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that works directly in any modern mobile browser (iOS, Android) without needing to install anything from an app store. It's optimized for mobile performance.
What image quality will I get?
Depending on the selected protection level, visual changes can range from virtually imperceptible (Level 1) to significant structural disruption (Chaos Mode). We recommend testing levels 1-3 for social media posts where visual fidelity is important.
